Qiiwi Games today announce that the soft launch of the company’s new major investment within the match-3 genre with the Banijay brand, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, has a new estimated start date. The goal is now to be able to start the soft launch of the game during the fourth quarter 2022. The reason for the changed start date is that Qiiwi wants to further polish and complete the features and content for the game to be able to compete at the absolute top level of casual match-3 games.
Qiiwi has a multi-year license agreement with Banijay Brands, the commercial arm of international content producer and distributor Banijay, to develop and publish a match-3 game based on the world-famous global renovation show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The new major investment is now expected to start its soft launch during the fourth quarter. The previous goal was to start the soft launch towards the end of the third quarter.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is Qiiwi's biggest production ever and most of the company's resources are working on the development of the game. This is a big difference related to how the company previously worked with games within the company's business area "Branded Games" and signals that the company has very strong faith in the future potential of the game, while also wanting to reach a completely new level of quality, social functions, and Live Operations possibilities.
Erik Dale Rundberg, CEO at Qiiwi Games comments:
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a game that feels right for the times where our ambition is to offer players a top level of entertainment in the form of storytelling, match-3 levels and events for players to participate in. This decision feels completely right to take as we have such high internal requirements for this major investment, and we must therefore not stress out the product.
The team working with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has a few parts that took longer time than our previous estimation, which was difficult to predict, so we need a little more time before we can start the soft launch of the game."
The television series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition showcases great stories, inspired volunteers and jaw-dropping home renovations for families who give back to their communities. The whole-home overhauls include interior, exterior and landscaping—all completed within a week.
The game brings together Qiiwi's established meta gaming mechanics strategy with Extreme Makeover's format which involves captivating stories together with a large selection of renovation and decorating options for the players to manage.
